Qawra Point Rocky Pool: (Max. Depth: 20-30 metres)

This is also a dive that is preferred by boat due to the sharp rocks to get to the water edge. If equipped with good hard sole booties though it is not such a long walk. Do not dive if the waves are breaking at the entry point as it could get very hairy trying to get out again.

Park the car below the Fra Ben Restaurant and make your way to the Northwest side of the peninsula. The bay on the Southeast side is shallow (5 meters max) and covered in posidonia. On the Northwest side, several alternatives are definitely worthwhile. Once in the water a dive along the shore takes you into a small cavern with an open ceiling. A torchlight will come in handy if you want to investigate all the cracks in this cavern. While in the cavern it would be a good idea to surface and find yourself enclosed in a natural rock formed pool. The underwater terrain is interesting with many crevices and rock formations but does not go deeper than 15 meters for quite a distance.

If you are an experienced diver and your air consumption is good take a bearing due North and this brings you to a drop-off onto a flat sandy bottom. Swim along the drop-off and you will come across a wall of cracks and holes full of colourful sponges and small fish. It is not unusual to spot larger fish here.
